It’s easy to take this for granted. We wave to each other and stop to talk at the store or the post office. This simple truth helps us to grow our community empathy and sense of connection. Thank you all for being patient with us and each other.
We are not the most diverse state, but we are deeply aware of our shared humanity. When we see injustice, Vermonters show up to stand against it. The beauty here brings people from around the world, so we’ve grown our capacity to welcome others openly.
Vermont is an easy place to love, but can be a hard place to live. When things get tricky, our response has been to get to work. When things are tough, Vermonters roll up their sleeves, put on their boots, and say, “How can I help?”
Vermonters haven’t forgotten that people matter. When Covid-19 hit our community, we housed its homeless population and fed the most vulnerable among us. We do this quietly and without being asked because it is simply the right thing to do.
